Old cities, new cities, smart cities, sustainable cities, resilient cities, big cities, little cities, inclusive cities – they are all growing. Globally, there are now more than 4.8 billion people living in urban areas, and things are changing fast. That we face a profoundly different future, with more complex, fast-moving, and interdependent challenges is no longer in question. How we go about approaching it however, most certainly is. In this session we will explore ideas from around the world: what is working and what is not? These ideas will help shape our ambitions in Canada for the next 50 years and beyond. Evergreen CEO Geoff Cape, Andy Fillmore, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Chris Luebkeman, Foresight and Strategy Advisor at ETH Zürich explore Our Urban Future.
