The Smart Cities Challenge is a pan-Canadian competition open to all municipalities, local or regional governments, and Indigenous communities (First Nations, Métis and Inuit). The Challenge empowers communities to adopt a smart cities approach to improve the lives of their residents through innovation, data and connected technology.

Challenge statement

Great cities strive to improve community quality of life, enable good mobility decisions and ensure a smaller carbon footprint. We will use lighting and signal technologies to create information driven dynamic parking regulations, pedestrian scale lighting, EV charging and prioritization for rapid transit; to optimize our streets for all people.
