Northern Solutions for Northern Housing

The Northwest Territories Housing Corporation (NWTHC) has been implementing initiatives related to its Strategic Renewal since the Spring of 2016, grounded in the mandate of the 18th Legislative Assembly and Voices in Housing, the summary feedback from the 2017 Housing Engagement Survey.

Further, in November 2018, the NWTHC signed a bilateral partnership agreement on the National Housing Strategy with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), which stipulates a partnership arrangement to 2028 totalling $87 million in federal investment and alongside NWTHC cost-matches, a total of $140 million. Additionally, as part of the National Housing Strategy, the federal government launched the National Housing Co-Investment Fund to stimulate the construction and rejuvenation of affordable housing nationally.
