Spotlight: Housing Innovation
Highlight your innovative solution for housing affordability with Evergreen.
Do you have an innovative housing affordability solution that’s ready to be accelerated or scaled? This demonstration showcase will catalyze action on exceptional contributions to affordable housing innovation across the country. Evergreen is seeking applicants to demonstrate their innovative housing solutions in a digital event series for innovators; an opportunity to showcase their work across the country, build their network and scale their initiative.
Successful applicants will:
- Present their work in a virtual innovation showcase as part of Future Cities Canada: #UnexpectedSolutions
- Participate in an immersive, hands-on scaling workshop, led by cross sectoral experts from across Canada
- Develop connections with experts, innovators and leaders within Canada’s housing and urban sectors
- Showcase their innovation in an e-booklet that will be shared on the Community Solutions Network portal
This innovation showcase is funded through the National Housing Strategy (NHS) Demonstration Initiative. The NHS is a 10-year $55-billion federal investment to give more Canadians a place to call home. The Demonstrations Initiative, one of the programs under the NHS, highlights innovative housing practices, technologies, programs, policies and strategies aiming to improve the performance, viability and effectiveness of affordable housing.

Selected applicants will be contacted via email by early October and informed of which of the program events they are being invited to participate.
NOVEMBER 12, 2020: INNOVATIVE HOUSING SHOWCASE
Join us for the marquee event of the Spotlight: Housing Innovation series in this exciting showcase of some of the biggest initiatives that are changing the future of affordable housing across the country. Featuring Abi Bond (Housing Secretariat, City of Toronto), Graeme Stewart (ERA) and Matthew Hickey (Two Row Architect), this Showcase will demonstrate the possibilities of integrating cross-sectoral, housing first strategies at a large scale.
NOVEMBER 19, 2020: SCALING INNOVATIVE HOUSING WORKSHOP
Led by experts on housing innovation and “scaling” solutions, this is a unique workshop will bring together city builders from across the country looking to break down silos and dive deep into a systems-based approach to build unique cross-sectoral connections and opportunities across industries and regions. The workshop will be hands-on and solutions-oriented space that will introduce participants to scaling and design thinking methodologies, and will provide participants with the essential skills, resources and connections to scale through collaborative work and break-out group sessions.
